The Royal National Mòd in Falkirk has been proclaimed a success, and was certainly one of the best ever for Edinburgh's Gaels.
Children from Tollcross Primary and James Gillespie's High School earned many top prizes in the competitions, as did numerous others from the capital, in children's and adult categories. And many, many thousands from all over take home memories of a city centre bustling with Gaelic activity, thrilling competions of an extremely high standard, and social gatherings and Fringe events as only the Gaels know how.
The nation's new Gaelic channel is now delivering quality Gaelic broadcasting daily throughout the afternoon and eveing on Sky 168 and Freesat 110, and is available to some in the capital.
But many can't yet tune in. Look out for various petitions requesting the government to make it available of Freeview so we can all get tuned in to Gaelic!
Edinburgh Council must now produce its Gaelic plan, having been issued with official notification from Bòrd na Gàidhlig at the end of June.
Set to launch around the end of 2008 following a period of public consultation, the current draft of the plan is ambitious, aiming to support and develop Gaelic as a major asset within Edinburgh for the benefit of all in the city.
